Some flowers from my garden...

In the otherwise dry part of Uttar Pradesh, light showers this season did some wonders in my garden.
Though few in number, there was a surprise everyday on my week long visit to my home.

I will share some beautiful blooms of this season, that I have taken from my garden.

This flower is called Zinnia..and look there is a lovely visitor too!

A lovely dhalia stands out...

These are Butter daisies. We have these yellow flowers in abundance, with tiny yellow butterflies hovering over it all the time. One posed for me without hopping away :)

I found this cluster of Crape jasmine irresistible.

This is the season of balsams. We have 4-5 colors of balsams bloomed in the garden.I simply love seeing these flowers.

I do not know the name of these beautiful twig of tiny pink flowers. But they effortlessly wrap my garden boundary walls.
These eternal roses are my friends throughout the year.

This blushing beauty caught the attention of a passing by wasp...

A lemon peeps through from my kitchen garden...

These were a few from my lovely garden foliage.Wow, i was delighted to see them all with so little rain and mercury soaring high this season.

Spring is the time when my garden is lush, colorful and vibrant.Come spring and there a number of varieties waiting to be in full bloom!
Will capture lots of pretty pictures on my next visit home :)

Love,
Rash

My Apple Pie :)

When you have all the time in the world , hundreds of ideas come to your mind. And when it also becomes almost urgent to stave off ur hunger pangs, u can always afford to make something like an apple pie :)
So when i found that i had all what it requires to bake one, I started off.

Here are the simple steps ( from my mom's age old recipe book) and few pictures (courtesy:my sony cybershot :))

Take 2 cups of flour.Add 3 tbsp powdered sugar, half a cup cold butter and a pinch of salt.Mix it well. Now knead this mixture into a dough.cover it up in a foil and refrigerate it for sometime.

To prepare the filling, cut and peel four medium sized apples.Add some sugar (as much as u want, would depend on the sweetness of apples as well),2 tbsp water,1 tsp cinnamon. Cook in a pan,so that apples become soft and u can mash it well.Once done let it cool. Now I added a few raisins and almonds too.Keep it aside.

Cut the dough in two parts.Roll out one part evenly and flop it over the baking dish.
Brush egg white on the pie.u can make tiny holes on the pie so that it bakes well. Now spread the apple filling in it.

Roll out the other part of dough and flop it to cover the pie.Brush again the egg white.U can go ahead with decorations as well, like i did to make it look like a traditional apple pie ;)

Now bake it in the oven at 190 degrees for 30 mins.
Top it with raisins and chow down!!!

And its not bad when three fourth of it gets eaten up before it got cooled ;)

I have never made an apple pie before and this one was absolutely divine!
Happy eating!
